MUSLIM & JEWS DIALOGE !!

Zakaria Mohamad July 30th, 2007

dialoge.jpg It is time for the Muslim & Jews go for religious dialoge. This is the ideal opportunity for people to learn to live in harmony. There is urgency for Jewish and Muslims to start communicating and establish an honest dialogue in order to avoid knee-jerk, reflexive community responses that may undermine the principle of living together in harmony. Self-criticism must become a mutual exercise.
If it is necessary to condemn anti-Semitic language of some Muslims, it is also the responsibility of Jewish intellectuals, religious or secular, not to confuse the different spheres. An extreme right-wing Prime Minister, Jewish or otherwise, supports an ideology that must be denounced precisely for what it is. Criticism of Sharon for his atrocious past crimes and his policies while prime minister of Israel is not a sign of disrespect for Judaism, in the same way that criticism of dictators of some Muslim countries, one by one, is not an attack on Islam. The guidance from the higher self. At this critical period of time, we need the guidance from the higher self…Have there ever been times in your life when you needed some guidance?… some direction in life, or a bit of help making a major decision? US DEMOCRATS TO FORCE DEBATE OVER IRAQ WAR

Zakaria Mohamad July 26th, 2007

waroniraq.jpg WASHINGTON, July 17, 2007 (AFP) – Anti-war Democrats in the US Senate are vowing to force Republicans to stage an all-night vigil on Tuesday to defend President George W. Bush’s policy on Iraq. Democratic majority leader Harry Reid turned up the heat on Republicans on Monday after they blocked a vote on a bill that would force Bush to get most combat troops out of Iraq by early next year. “Blocking an up-or-down vote … shows Republicans are more interested in protecting the president than our troops,” Reid said. “We’re going to work today. We’re going to work tomorrow. We’re going to work tomorrow night.”

The marathon all-night debate starting Tuesday will attempt to force Republicans to allow a simple majority vote on a bill requiring a withdrawal of combat troops to start within 120 days and to be completed by April 30 next year. Bill sponsor Senator Carl Levin said that the legislation “would tell the Iraqis that we are going to begin to take a step to force them to take responsibility for their own nation.” “It’s long overdue; the Iraqis have been fiddling while their Baghdad capital has been burning. And there is no solution in Iraq other than a political solution,” Levin said on the PBS television network. “Why wait for more American lives to be lost?” he said. Continue Reading »

Imam Farooq Aboelzahab stands in the sparse prayer hall at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo, near I-75 in Perrysburg.Highway travelers driving past the hulking mosque on I-75 see the metallic gold dome, the 135-foot-tall minarets and the intricate stained-glass windows. The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo makes some people curious. For others, it conjures up stereotypes fueled by the Sept. 11 terrorist attack and the Iraq War. Imam Farooq Aboelzahab wishes they all would stop in, ask questions and see the mosque and Muslim ways for themselves. “We need to talk about Islam and show Islam to others,” he said. “We feel responsible to reach out, be with the people and show what we have in common.”

Aboelzahab and others at the mosque are part of an enthusiastic outreach program. Its mission is to show outsiders that Muslims are just like them: Americans with families who care about safety and community. Mosque leaders across the state say they’re doing public relations work more than ever. It’s necessary to counter all the negative stereotypes of Muslims that have popped up since Sept. 11, they say. So they open the doors to the mosques, offer traditional Muslim food at community picnics and visit their neighbors who might be leery of them. Continue Reading »
